Abstract
A process for treating 2-ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnamic acid ester is described. The process comprises heating, preferably distilling, the ester in the presence of a phenol to insure that the ester is considered Ames negative.

Abstract
A process for treating 2-ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnamic acid ester is described. The process comprises heating, preferably distilling, the ester in the presence of a phenol to insure that the ester is considered Ames negative.
Claim 1
A process for the treatment of 2-ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnamate which comprises heating 2-ethylhexyl p-methoxycinnamate in the presence of a phenol at a temperature of from about150.degree. C. to about 230.degree. C. for a time sufficient to provide a material which tests Ames negative.
