About This Independent United States Patent Reference

PatentGenius is an independent reference archive of granted United States patents. Each entry sets out what the patent covers — abstract, claims, filing and grant dates, named inventors, assignee and classification — and links out to the full official document.

What this archive holds

Every record here describes a patent that has already been granted and published by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Patent documents are public records; this site collects them into a readable, cross-referenced form, organised three ways: by the patent itself, by the people named as inventors, and by the organisation the patent was assigned to.

Nothing on this site is a substitute for the official document. Every patent page carries a direct link to the full specification, including the drawings and the complete prosecution history, which this archive does not reproduce.

Where the data comes from

Records are reconstructed from published US patent documents. During compilation the USPTO’s own programmatic interfaces were tested and found unusable for this purpose: the PatentsView API has been retired, the legacy developer endpoint was unavailable, and the current Open Data Portal is a browser application without a public document interface. Records were therefore assembled from published document text and verified field by field against the official record.

Where a field could not be verified it is left empty rather than estimated. An incomplete record is more useful than a plausible-looking wrong one.

What this archive is not

  • Not affiliated with the USPTO. This is an independent project with no official standing and no connection to any patent office.
  • Not legal counsel. Nothing here is legal advice. Patent scope, validity and infringement are questions for a qualified attorney working from the official document.
  • Not a filing service. No applications are prepared, filed or reviewed here, and no attorneys are recommended or referred.
  • Not a search of record. A freedom-to-operate or prior-art search must be run against the official databases.
