| Abstract: |
A new African Violet cultivar distinguished by its profuse production of medium sized, wine-red flowers of good substance and keeping quality and by its vigorous and strong growth habit which produces a compact plant of rosette form. |
| Claim: |
I claim:
1. A new variety of African Violet, substantially as herein shown and described, characterized by its profuse production of medium sized flowers, bloomed intermittently and borne onstrong, upright stems. |
| Description: |
BACKGROUND OF THE NEW PLANT
This plant originated as a seedling of unknown parentage growing among greenhouse plants maintained for breeding purposes at Fallbrook, Calif., and was discovered by me in 1977. The strong and vigorous rosette form of growth and its pleasing redflowers led me to select this plant for propagation and further study, reproduction of the selected plant being done by means of cuttings at Fallbrook and carried on through successive generations which demonstrated that this new variety of violet hadexcellent horticultural characteristics. This new variety has retained its novel features from generation to generation and they appear to be firmly fixed.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
This new violet plant is illustrated by the accompanying drawings, of which sheet 1 is a full color photographic view of a potted plant in full bloom, sheet 2 is a photographic print showing full face views of flowers of this variety which hasbeen hand-painted to show the true flower colors, and sheets 3 and 4 are prints of machine copies of the front and back sides, respectively, of typical leaves of this plant.
