Description: Subject matter wherein the A.F.S. circuit of the controlled oscillator includes a source of constant frequency, which source serves as a frequency standard, means being provided for comparing the frequency of the oscillations generated by the controlled oscillator with the standard frequency, the frequency comparison means producing an electrical control or error signal which is a measure of the deviation, in direction and amount, of the controlled oscillator frequency from the standard frequency, the control or error signal being applied to the frequency adjustment means of the controlled oscillator in such a manner as to reduce the frequency difference between the generated oscillations of the controlled oscillator and the oscillations of the constant frequency source to a minimum.
